PVC or CPVC – Overview
The selection criteria between CPVC and PVC is very simple and obvious. CPVC pipes are always more expensive as compared to PVC pipes of same dimension and hence the decision of its selection has to be very meaningful and specific.
CPVC can sustain high temperature of water up to 200°F / 93°C while PVC is good up to 140°F / 60°C. An important fact which very few plumbers are aware that the jointing kit of PVC and CPVC are totally different and should not be interchangeable as the solvent cement used for bonding are of different specification as per the material characteristic of the polymer.

Usually, CPVC pipes are of very small diameter while PVC pipes can be up to 24inch and above also in specific case.
Both these pipes releases strong toxic fumes when heated or melted.
